Ooh, grown-up stage!
Ooh, grown-up light show!
Backstage area, AAA passes, rider, kick-ass sound system … yes, it was hard not to think we had finally cracked the big time. “Where were you?” I hear you cry. Well, er, St Ives actually. Windy, rainy, flooded St Ives… but man it was good!
We were chuffed to bits to be asked to come and support Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel at the Kevewi BIG Night Out at the Guildhall. It was everything we hoped it would be; made even more special by the fact we were celebrating Fraser and Benji’s birthdays! Both of whom were driving, and well, we don’t really drink before performing anyway, so the extravagant rider went a bit left at the traffic lights and we ended up toasting their health using a kettle, some teabags and a plastic glass full of milk from the kitchen! Cornwall’s ultimate party band? Fuelled by tea.
Sound check happened (which IS actually news, as it was a toss up between that and the sound engineers getting dinner!). Quick blast of Cee Lo and off to get ready; bit of lippy for Lucy, and Alan puts his hat on – boom – we are stage-ready!
To say we loved this gig would be an understatement. To say we REALLY loved it is still a smidge too modest. The crowd was amazing, and the feedback was phenomenal. It was also a real pleasure to be able to check out the other bands on an amazingly varied bill.
Well done to the Kevewi team; cracking show! Looking forward to coming back and doing it all again soon.
